The main goal of the new axis “Physics of living matter” is to promote interactions and discussions between physicists, biologists and mathematicians, to strengthen the interdisciplinary community in the Nice area. We aim to create a forum, which facilitates informal discussion, identifies common interests and potential collaborations. We support research to investigate the physical basis of diverse biological processes, with a focus on quantitative and predictive modeling and a tight connection with experiments. To this end, we support (encourage? envision?) the development of novel experimental and theoretical approaches including physical models and mathematical methods. The Interdisciplinary “Mission” of the CNRS supports this initiative through the Federation W. Doeblin. A call for proposal will be published soon to support the organization of scientific events (conferences, whorkshops, symposia…) and the realization of emerging research projects.
